My Recap: Week 6 of Body Revolution

When I started this Body Revolution, I was groaning internally because it takes 12 weeks (3 months) for the entire program. So long...

But taking that I was meant to record a fortnight post about my progress, time pass very swiftly. Especially just 30 mins a day!

And as of end of this week, I am officially halfway through the body revolution program. :)

My current stat:

Week 5 Weight: 56.3 kg
Week 5 Fat Content: 25.3 %
Week 5 Muscle Content: 26.8%
Thigh Measurement: 20.9 inch
Arm Measurement: 10.6 inch

Honestly, my stat does not do justice to the difference I felt physically. I definitely noticed difference in my physique, i.e. leaner and toned overall. And when I say overall, I really mean overall. Thigh, back thigh, lower ab, upper arm, ok... maybe not so much calves and lower arm.

Considering how much I huffed and puffed during workout and couldn't really catch up with the workout, I am surprised that there seem to be a difference at all.

I realised that after I persisted in my workout for over a month, I began to crave workout, or maybe the after effects of workout, when days I felt that I do not have time. Honestly, working out hurts, pushing your muscles for that one more rep? Getting to know muscles you never knew existed? Makes me want to slap whoever said that workout is fun. It is not. Maybe workout disguised as sports would be fun. What I enjoy is that moment of tranquility after a good workout and sweat out, and that energy that grows with each successive workout.

So if you felt like you need to start your journey to a healthier and fitter life, start NOW and persist each day after that. Because you'll thank yourself for that!

May Update

Tomorrow is Mother's day!

Happy Mother's day to all the mothers all over the world. I read it in an article recently about how many nights of sleep parents were deprived once they have children. Hmm... understatement of the year!

On a different note, I have just recently discovered a Malaysian singer, Shila Amzah who is just amazing! (Not that she needed discovering, she has already released her own album and all that! So I can't believe that I had just heard her sing for the first time recently!) Most singers can deliver a song nowadays. Listen to one of her Malay song here:

But for her to deliver a chinese song with such emotion and depth... omg... I was moved to tears. So beautiful!! I don't think I am the only one, because some of the audience were also crying. Major love~!!

Her pronunciation may not be the most precise but, omg, who cares? Her song sings of its own origin, soul, and background; unique from its original piece. So, I have no cause for complaints. I just love it!

Hope you have an awesome weekend with your mum or in my case, memories of my mum. :) God bless your soul, mum.

Fitness Diary 1

By this time, we are officially one third of our way through 2014! How have your new year resolution come along?

For me, it is officially getting tougher!

I just officially bought Jillian Michael's Body Revolution program from Amazon last month and I plan to do this for the next 3 months!! It is not going to be easy, not only because this is Jillian Michael, the official trainer for the American Biggest Loser!! But also next 3 months are going to be winter time!

*That is hell loads of exclamation mark for a paragraph, but I can't believe how fired up, scared, anxious and EXCITED I am for this!!*

A brief introduction of this body revolution program: It consists of 4 different 30-minutes strength training and 1 cardio exercise for a month for a total of 3 months. Each workout comes in is separate CD so I can easily open the workout I wanted without time wasted in selecting the right workout in a single DVD (Not too sure if it does require that much time though; not too sure that was the intention as well). It comes with a menu plan on healthier meal choices and a fitness journal to plot the workout, the former is going to be helpful but I am pretty sure I will not use the latter though.

Since the body revolution program is going to be tough, prohibiting food that contains soy, MSG, peanut, alcohol, etc, I decided I am going all out this easter before I dive into it. For starter, how can I totally cut off soy sauce from my meals?!? I will start to exhibit withdrawal symptoms in the first week!! Gotta hide my soy sauce bottle!! Lol... so these are like my cheat meals before the body revolution program.

WARNING: Following pics may make you hungry! Keep away if you are on a diet~!

Sarawak Kampua

Strawberry, Apple and Mint Juice @ Gordon St Garage (Simple delicious *thumbs up*)

Chocolate Chip Cookie dough Muffin, given to me by my friend. Still waiting for her recipe, maybe I will chase her after 3 months time... wtf...
Strawberry frangelico tart @ Gordon St Garage

Dessert selection @ Gordon St Garage (I am gonna miss you babies!! See ya 3 months from now! *flying kiss*)

Fitness wise, I am not where I thought I would be. I still have chicken-wing equivalent of arms and my slightly protruding abs are constantly obscured by my overloaded tummy but then on good days I can see the results. So, I am not going to give up yet!

Stay strong and stay awesome, everyone!

2014 New Year Resolution

2013 is officially over and with it 2014 has finally arrived!!

Honestly, I wish this year would never end. This year has been good, such as the starting of a new work chapter for me and my first ever Europe trip.

For me, the ending of this year is only going to bring me closer to motherhood, *sigh* and my current response to motherhood is almost matched by my disgust at seeing baby diapers. Hopefully, I will reach a maturity when I can accept all that responsibility without first freaking out. ;(

So, I decided this year would be the year I work to get the body I wanted all along (as I put it to B) before the baby wreaks it forever... wtf.. :)

One of the hype has to be thigh gap. It got so popular that there is an article in wikihow that details what you need to do to achieve gaps between your thighs. You can read it here. Earlier this year, I was pretty much consumed with the desire to get it.

But that was all before I watched the latest instalment of Wolverine. I hate to digress but I really love Wolverine!! But this instalment of Wolverine was a personal disappointment for me, the story line was predictable and the characters were just so awkward and shallow. But I had to really applaud the main female character because since the day I see her in jeans, I decided having thigh gaps is us not all it is crack up to be, wtf!!

I mean there is sexy-and-small thigh gaps and then there is a-continental-apart thigh gaps which just looks plain anorexic. I want strong inner thigh muscles and not muscle atrophy, wtf..

I think life is definitely too pathetic if I have to starved myself to look good. That's right, I am an avid food lover~! :D

But more than that, I have come to realise that vanity is really quite short term. What is deemed beautiful today will be out tomorrow, I won't be able to be fully happy chasing one fleeting butterfly after the other. My main fitness goal should be to appreciate my body (before the baby wreaks it), embracing its strength and weaknesses. :)

I want to be a fitter and leaner, stronger and passionate person this year!

This year would be the year I will try to work hard for the things I need in life... omg... A more family-friendly house and family-friendly car, let's do this!!

Happy new year 2014, everyone!!
