Perhaps I shouldn't jump too fast into the academic field coz I totally forgot that I would be required to teach 4th year students~! In addition to that, some are my ex-classmates (either failed before or younger by one batch)... adoi~! Muka kasih tebal sikit~!

Student 1 : Is that your way of saying you don't know the answer.
E : NO~! This is my way of saying I do not have time to go through something you should have covered by now.

*probably should have replied 'This is my way of NOT insulting your intelligence' but that phrase is soo totally copyrighted by my supervisor.
Student 2 (China): I don't know .... ... (didn't catch what she is talking about)
E : Sorry, I don't know ... (going to say I don't know what she is asking about, but before I can finish my sentence...)
Student 2 : Ooo... yuan lai ta ye bu ze dao (mumbles in chinese)

Yes~! Being a tutor is totally not easy... But sometimes it is also so funny...
Hailstorm
This is by far the worst hail storm in Perth that I have experience. Hours before, hail the size of your finger tips peppered down onto the pavements. It was practically ice chips initially, but enlarge it a bit while incorporating the velocity at which it travels, it can end up making such a horrific damage:

The image stuck in my head today was horrible. As me and my friend make our way out from my office, the rain and wind suddenly pick up. Curtin University's electricity practically tripped under the endless lightning, thunder, torrendous rain and wind. We were just in time to make our way to the nearest shelter before we found out that we were stuck. Puddles formed... merged into small rivers, streaming down from the library section to the engineering buildings. Students who were trying to escape the rain in the computer labs had to make their way out of the building as alarm started to ring and water start to enter the ground floor. Everyone huddled together in the dark under the shelter. This looks and feels like one of those episodes where suddenly in the dark, something climbs out and attack~! Yikes~!

Finally waited till the rain subsides a bit, we ran across the campus to the main bus stop and ended drenched but happy thinking that we have been through the worst part. We took 72 bus to Vic Park Transfer station and waited and waited... Until the Transperth officer came and announce that due to the hailstorm, there is a flash flood in St Georges Terrace with a height of 1.5 - 2m and bus will be delayed or worst, canceled. So they advise us to either call taxi or friends/family to come and pick us home. Since the rain subsided and the walk back home takes 15 minute, we decided to risk it. Little did we know that the rain began to pick up momentum and walking home under such condition was horrible. The row of shops along Vic park were closed as there was flash flood there as well earlier in the afternoon. This is it... end of the world... I thought I am not going to make it. But manage to drag my tired and shivering body back home after a long 1 1/2 hour out in rain. Sigh... hopefully tomorrow I won't get sick...

Lesson 2: Emails are freaking FREE, baby~!
Lesson 2 of the month: Emails... Emails and some more emails...
Remember those times when I was told by my lecturers that use emails as deemed necessary, be straight to the point and leave no ambiguity. In short, Keep it short and simple.
Forget those times, now I learn a new lesson. Emails are freaking FREE baby~! So emails are deemed compulsory. If someone email you even if under the context of plain notification purposes, and although it was to a long loong list of contacts, I have the responsibility to email back. Damn... My consideration that maybe this person's mail box may be spammed with emails are well.... rubbish as I come to realise.
If you think the movie is 'Just follow law' is funny, well real life is practically like this. There is no more KISS when it comes to email. When it comes to email here, I realise ppl write long... long rubbish like novel to notify something so short. Where is the efficiency? (Sorry... being an engineering person... found it damn annoying). Lol... I was even teased as being proud over email... yikes...
So conclusion? Emails are FREAKING FREE, baby~! So don't waste your saliva, don't waste paper, just email and when you email... Write as much as you can. Damn it~!

The pains of looking for houses
Yes~! Looking for a suitable houses is such a pain~! And who are those ding dongs who spam my FB post when I was seriously frustrating over finding a house? Jaga u guys~! >:P
The art of house hunting is basically trying to hunt those with good security, while having good access to amenities (groceries shopping, bus stop, etc) at good prices~! I've come to peace with other details such as whether the kitchen is large enough, whether they have air con... whether etc etc etc... Some can and will charge a whooping price of aud200 p/p p/w~! And that is excluding utilities or furnishing~!
:( While others can be as cheap as aud90 p/p p/w with furnishing but at what cost? Cockroaches dancing with you every night? yikes~! After spending a good fortune on telephone bills and bus transit for house viewings, I've come to the conclusion... I need DIVINE INTERVENTION~! :D
Tactic 1: Rent a car or get a person to drive you around the area you are interested in. Then get a camera phone/camera/phone, snap/call the telephone of the agent that is incharge of the house and arrange for a viewing for the inside of the house.
Advantage: You don't need google map to google and check everything beforehand
Disadvantage: You tend to deal with agents which involves a lot of procedures. and you might get sunburn at mild, sun stroke at worst~!
Tactic 2: Go to international housing office in Curtin ~! They prepared clear documentations of properties for rent with a big map for your reference and free water and air cond services.
Advantage: Cooling... Relaxing... Forgot the urgency of getting a house...
Disadvantage: Forgot the urgency of getting a house... :P
Tactic 3: Go to the noticeboard every week if you are not desperate, every day if you are and contact the owner of the house.
Advantage: You deal directly with the owner which will be mostly asians who may tend to prefer asians. You can negotiate price and have lesser procedural complications.
Disadvantage: Some are shabby and you may end up partying with cockcroaches at night... weee...
Tactic 4: Go to the offices of those agents aforementioned. They printed a list of house for rental or sale and you are welcomed to get a free copy for your reference.
Advanatage & disadvantage: refer to Tactic 1
Last of all, GO GO GO for house viewing.... After viewing more than 10 houses per week, you will finally get fed up and a party with cockcroaches might be just the more enjoyable~!!! :D
