Poochy's Update

Hi,

It is the middle of the week today! I know work is so tiring and mind-numbing sometimes I just dazed in the bus and almost didn't wake up from my daze in time to get down (that's 30 minutes of work transit, mind you!). Sometimes, I really love to wind down with my doggy and videos of random silly pets. And that's why I decided to do this post. I love to see how much my little puppy has grown and boy, did she grow up fast!!

This was taken like almost 5 months ago! Note: her fur was slightly scruffy and she had a pathetic tail (I always thought it looks ugly like a rat's! I may love her but I am not blind.) Her ears were starting to grow and her fur is dark brown with light undertone. (she blends into the carpet, which I had to remove during her toilet training!!)

She loves rubbing against people's leg and somehow looks like a furball when she does that (More like a cat than a dog) *heart melts like butter*

Doesn't she look like a giant rat from a certain angle? :P

I briefly regretted her because she was shedding her cute puppy fur and I contemplated whether she would grow up more uglier than cute... but now.... ta da~! Her puppy fur is all gone now and her once downcast ears are now all perky and high. Her coat of fur has also changed color from dark brown to light cream colour. A lot of friends would compliment her and then say,'I prefer golden retriever' or 'When I get a pet, I would get a golden retriever instead.' I'm way past being offended by now because when you love someone, you just love them for what and who they are, I don't see why only golden retriever deserves to be love.

Poochy may not be pure breed but her difference makes her special and one of a kind. She has this funny two strand of hair at each end of her ears. So cute~! The cutest thing (can't quite capture on camera) is her slightly crinkled fur near the edge of her ears!! I didn't know this kind of hair/fur grows naturally!!

You might actually notice the crinkled fur by her ears in this picture! (she accompanies me during my weekly fiction read, warms my heart and my bum)

But, doggies comes with a lot of responsibilities. It should not be taken lightly. For example, Poochy gets so destructive when I couldn't walk her during the week. *Sigh* It can't be help, thanks to winter with the shorter days and long transit time between work and *insert more excuses*, it takes a lot of patience and understanding to accommodate her needs as well as my own.

In order to curb her boredom and frustration, I bought her a bone to chew instead of letting her destroy her own bed and her toys. Quite effective.

If you'd like to see more of Poochy's video, follow me on Instagram (@jellzter)~! Videos of my pet brings a smile to my face, and I hope it can bring one to yours too. :)

Happy mid of the week~!

June on Fire!!

I am so motivated by blogilates' Cassey Ho's June on Fire. (If you want to know more about her, just click here.) So motivated that I managed to convince my hubby to enter into our own diet bet for the month of June, and he agreed! *insert laugh out loud*

Our goal will be to lose 4% of our body weight within the month of June. I know 4% may not sound a lot to a lot of hardcore dieters who are able to swiftly lose weight by controlling their food intake (I know I can't) and survived on cabbage soup (I know I really can't) or something but 4% during winter is very hard. Don't  just trust me, just look at the polar bears.

But this diet bet is different, I promise you. No crazy-malnutrition dieting, no crazy formula; just plain, old, trialed and tested method of healthy food and plenty of exercises.

It will be hard. *shakes head* Last winter, I was sooo.... hungry I swear I thought I had intestinal worms and had to embarrass myself by going to the pharmacy to get deworming tablets and the pharmacist laughed at my diagnosis. Apparently according to the pharmacist, you can take a torchlight and shine at said A**H**** at dark and if you have intestinal worms, your AH will kinda glow at night. Sounds pretty impressive like some kind of fireflies. Turns out I didn't have intestinal worms, not because someone shine some torchlight at my AH but because autumn came and my appetite slowly wane. :P

So this is me taken earlier this month with my fat thighs and bum, I hope at the end of the month I would see some improvement. This has always been my trouble zone and it is now or never in getting it fix!

Please don't try to stop me because I know myself how lazy I am. It is so hard to get fired up to do anything at all during winter but this time it is different. Late last month, I lost a friend from heart attack. He was barely 35 and that made it so hard for us to accept. I know he was obese most of his life but this was something we thought would never happen to someone we know and love at such a young age. We'd always meant well by telling him he needed to lose weight and he'd always push it off; but how easy is it to say and not do anything? How easy is it to say we will start a healthier lifestyle tomorrow? Next week? Next month? When winter is over? There will never be a better timing than the time you have now.

I wanted so badly to post this up earlier but I got so emotional when I think of him. So, this month is a month I am committing to healthier living. Let's trade in those high heels, put on some running shoes and let's get sweating!

A day trip to Busselton Jetty

You know what is worst than working on the final day before a long weekend when the office is almost half empty? Maybe worst than like... watching my favourite movie in a rat infested cinema!! (And I did that once because I had no choice... small town only had ONE cinema!!) To me, it had to be getting sick a day before the start of long weekend. Glum am I! I got the sniffles, the cough and the attitude to go with it, which is bad.

But that won't stop me from deciding to venture down south to Busselton during the weekend!! The weather have been cold lately (hitting 2 degrees at night) and cold means staying at home and staying at home means boring so I am so GLAD we could finally have time to go somewhere else for a change.

So we packed lunch, chugged some petrol, picked up our coats and took a 2.5 hours drive down from Perth to Busselton. The weather is so beautiful, bright sunny day with puffy white clouds.

Lake Preston
Preston Lake

Preston Beach, it is so pristine... (You know it is cold when even the locals don't swim in it!!)

Me at Preston Beach, slightly twisting my body so you won't know how much I've gained this autumn and it's not winter yet!! **sob**

Around 12ish, we finally arrived in Busselton via Bussel Highway. A no-brainer that one. :P

Busselton Jetty.

So, I googled up this place before I came (Of course~la!). Apparently, Busselton Jetty is the longest jetty in the southern hemisphere at approximately 1.84~1.9 km. Being the half nerd that I am, I guess this is like one of the must-go place for me and hubby.

But seriously, we underestimated just how cold it can get... freaking 1.9km out to the sea!!

This is what the locals wear, ok? Thick fury coats vs my wool shirt and jeans. But this wool shirt is worth its weight in gold, it really does it job. Except my fingers, my neck, my face and my toes were still vulnerable from exposure....
Mini train ride on the jetty when you get tired of walking...

At the far end of the jetty, they have also installed an underwater observatory room where you can view the marine life form living under the jetty. It doesn't come free, though because they even charge a small fee of $2.5 for the entry fee to the jetty. Guided tours including a train ride back is about $20ish while 15 mins of self-guided tour is about $14. But all is good when you consider that these fees goes into the upkeep of these memorable places by the community.

Well hello there, leatherjacket!

Had some fun finding Nemo and some tropical fishies too because we don't get them much often during winter. Guess it may be warmer than out. :P

This is me, braving the cold to spread the bubbles out to the sea

Our lunch, Smoked salmon, egg, avocado and tomato on a roll.

So anyway, that is a very brief summary of my day out to Busselton Jetty. I had to quickly summarise it within 30 mins because that's how long my flu medicine would potentially take effect before I start typing out gibberish and then I'll have to apologize by giving out well-worn excuses like 'English is not my first language' option.

So after a day of fun, I had to now huddle in bed with a cup of hot water sneezing, sniffling and coughing my organs out. I wish I can say that it was all worth it in the end. :'''(

Anyway.... To all those residing in Perth, Stay Warm and Stay FLU-LESS!!

And to all others, Stay Happy and Strong~!
