What's in my bag?

Earlier last month while I was having a short break back in my home country, I did the unthinkable! In all my history of forgetting to pack my sock, random shirt, shoe or maybe toothbrush, this time I have really pick it up a notch or two and forgot my make up bag!! I totally left it back in Malaysia.

Back in Australia, I tried to think of the most rational decision and actually tried to survive a month without my make up but it turns out the next few days someone in the office kept asking me whether I feel ok because I look pale and unwell. Damn it!! So I finally decided to ask my sister to send my make up bag all the way from Malaysia to me and my bro-in-law so graciously chose the most quickest and secure courier which cost quite a bomb. Lesson learnt: Never EVER forget my make up bag!!

In order to compensate for my feeling of spending too much for my small stash of make up. (Small but weighted 1.5kg, I seriously do not know how. I swear I thought it all weights like 500g?? ) I decided to do a post on them just so that I Never EVER forget about them.

First up is none other than my concealers!! Life has never been quite the same after they came into my life. Eye bag issue has been haunting me ever since God decided to pass this un-appreciated gene into my family.  I would sleep faithfully at 10pm and still crawl out of bed the next day looking like I partied all night long. So thank you concealer... Thank you for you!!

From left: Make up forever full cover concealer in No. 5; Bobbi Brown creamy concealer in warm beige and sheer finish pressed powder in pale yellow;  and Bobbi Brown corrector in medium to dark Bisque.

I no longer use the creamy concealer because it sometimes cake around my eye but the sheer finish pressed powder is a nice finish to set the concealer.

Second up, Eye make up! I don't always do fancy eye shadow on my eyes but when I do, due to the shape and contours of my eyes, NOBODY ever notice them especially in photo. A very good example is the very good work my make up artist did on my eyes on my wedding day. So my eye make up routine is pretty standard.

From left: Shu Uemura eye lash curler, Lancome Virtuose Mascara Sample pot and Heroine ultra fine eye liner in black.

When I didn't have my Shu Uemura eye lash curler (Because I left it back home), I tried to make do with my old eye lash curler but it pinched my eye lid so much I might as well go for the puffy eye look.

The other absolute love is the Urban Decay's Naked Eye Palette. Neutral, earthy and so robust, you can double it up from eye shadow to brow shadow and face contouring. An absolute must-have for me!

But seriously, nothing too fancy, right?

Last but not least, Laura Mercier Invisible loose setting powder and Bourjois blush in 16 Rose.

When I got the Laura Mercier Invisible loose setting powder, I bragged to hubby that it is so awesomely invisible that no one knows I used powder on my face. Then he replied, then what is the purpose of putting powder on? (meaning I probably don't need it in the first place). .... .... I do not know how to answer .... ....

That is all for this week's random ink. Have an awesome week, I know I am so NOT looking forward to Monday! *groans*

Why I want a Samsung S4!!

Few years back, I posted a Christmas wishlist and forgot all about it. But somehow few months later, I manage to get all those things gifted to me. So, this time around, I decided... I wanted S4 and since I wanted it sooner rather than later, I decided to dedicate a blog entirely to WHY I wanted a Samsung S4.

I can repeat all the various feature of S4, either right out of memory or copy and paste from the supplier's website and no one could be the wiser. But cut the chase, the main point why I would want to switch from Iphone to Samsung is just one very simple reason.... BIGGER screen!!

Sure, they could entice me with their other features like their obviously working Bluetooth as compared to la~la~la or their better cameras. But hey, at the end of the day, whether I want to watch a video, video call, surf the web, or use voice navigator, anyone would prefer a bigger screen. And so far Iphone disappoints me with their stingy lengthening of Iphone (a.k.a. Iphone 5) instead of say~what BIGGER screen!!

If you understand the fashion cycle, you would know that the in-style for phone is bigger, ok? Not smaller.

Well, it doesn't help that one of my favorite korean drama this year just kept whipping out huge notepads phones out. So big that it makes their face looks smaller and thinner! Their nose bridge suddenly SO prominent and it has absolutely nothing to do with plastic surgery! *self-smirk* Yeay!

So big that even a simple statement looks dramatic with that huge phone pressed against their face!!

So big that you can't disguise the phone as a lame calculator because damn it! those big phones are made to SHOW! Rawr~!

It probably didn't help that the OS for Samsung S4 is Jelly bean!! (If I need to explain this joke, it gets boring, so hint... the name of my blog)

So....

Before you go off shaking your head at my seeming insanity, please understand this post is meant as a joke post. So chill... :) But I still want a Samsung S4, ok? ;P

Early May thoughts

It seemed like this week would never draw to a stop and then suddenly I am alone at home on a Friday night , a clear result of not having the foresight to plan ahead. Who am I kidding? Cold days are meant to cuddle at home!!

Last few days, the weather has been like crazy. Wild gust of wind, horrendous rain and the cold! *sneeze*

The first day of the storm, there was no wild rain or wind so I thought 'you call this storm, Perth?!?' then the next day the Universe punished me by purposely raining right before I step out of the bus. You should see me run with close to zero visibility, it is amazing I didn't run into a tree or a pole or maybe a passing car. Just look out for the person with streaking mascara and eye liner. It was horrible.

The second day, the Universe decided to give me a break. I managed to escape the rain when I got down from the bus. And during that short walk home, I looked up and heard the wind rustling through the palm trees and the palm trees swaying. And the image was something like this:

except... instead of a warm glow you see in this image it was more of a sullen and grouchy mood. Go home fast, I am going to cry again... said the sky.

But I just slowed down my pace because somehow the sound and image of the palm tree with a sunset triggered memories of my homeland and I recalled with pain the all-too-recent general election.

I have never been very vocal about my love for my own country. How could I? It would be as if to accept, emulate, and to abide to a government that justify corruption and cover ups as norms in life. It would be like a conspirator in squelching the voice of the weak and idolizing those with big head/hair or whatever you like to call it. I won't comment so much about this because I don't like to follow this whole politic-shit. And sometime when you listen, you just have to give yourself face palmS at the things Malaysian politicians get away with.

If there is any side to choose in this whole political debacle, I would choose to side with food. You can never go wrong with the food, right? Malay food, Indian mamak food, Chinese food, Baba and Nyonya food. See, there is all the unity in one single party, right? Spicy, sweet, bitter, sour, and salty; the essential five flavours of life. :)
