Beautiful things in life usually comes with a thorn

Ever wonder why roses come with thorns?
or Ever wonder why life can be so beautiful for some and yet so depressing and dreadful for others?
or Ever wonder why one's life can always be filled with people who support you, love you and motivate you while at the same time filled with people who like to insult you and make you feel like shit that you might as well just die?
or Ever wonder why there will always be angels and demons?

Growing up, I have always been taught that life is a competition. If you are rich, you must be the richest; if you are smart, you must be the smartest and etc etc. Either way, you must at least be a winner in some field. Hence the feeling that weakness and vulnerability is always frowned upon and oftentimes not tolerated.

Life is never easy, no matter who you are and what you are doing. Life will always be filled with ups and downs and it is rarely fair. It just so happens that not everybody feels the need to lament and whine everytime about it. What's the point of chatting or meeting if all you could want to express are complaints and whinings?

Sometimes I feel like an old person when ppl like to compare their background and their strive and continue on to say what a lucky and 'born-with-a-silver-spoon-in-my-mouth' life I have. I should feel happy that they think that way, coz I make my achievement looks easy and relax? lol.... I must b a PRO~!

How about the times ppl like to stamped all over my work and glower all over it? Stealing my idea without proper referencing? (lol...) or the time a student blatantly said his work is better than mine during presentation? (different project wor... it is like comparing an apple with an orange, dun know oso la) I may not take action like sabotaging that person infront of the supervisors that time, coz I will not succumb to be like the ppl I don't like. Turns out I do not need to, I had my moment... lol... Turns out he was in turn insulted quite vehemently by the supervisor and he didn't come to the meeting anymore. Moral of the story? Ever heard of the story of the canary in the cow poo? Not everyone who gives you shit is a bad person, and not everyone who digs it out of shit is ur ally. And when you are in deep shit, don't attract too much unnecessary attention~! XD
*(short intro: A canary dying of cold landed on the ground, and a passing cow shitted on the canary. The warmth of the shit help revive the canary so much that the canary began to tweet. This attracted the attention of a cat passing by who dug it up and eat it up~!)

Everything in life need not be a competition. Why is there a need to belittle other ppl to make yourself look so great? If it needs to be a competition, then at least can we be happy for what our friends have and can they extend the same happiness for us? Can we exclude those foul plays?

For me, I feel thankful for those thorns, there will be roses at the end
For those that pull me down, there will always be others who will lift me up
For the demons in my life, there are always angels to guide and guard me
I believe that this applies for everyone, so open your eyes~!

Too much movies this month...

Brains swarming with details and names of story lines and characters of movies I watched this month... :D

Good: I like the characters, especially how his dad looks like that character in sesame street~! His inventions are also equally cute and funny like the translator for the monkey~! It also addresses a very ubiquitous issue: the DAD issue, but in a mild manner.

Bad: A bit too much on the mild side. If the producer wanted a certain theme, well he didn't really achieve that. The DAD issue could be played on a bit more to create more emotions but it wasn't, it was just cute. A movie have to play with more than one emotions to make it successful.

Overall: B-

Good: I like Sherlock Holmes soo much~! Very fast paced and exciting~! Nice graphics~!

Bad: I m not sure Sherlock Holmes was protrayed as such in the original story book and I wasn't fast enough to keep track with the progress of the story~! lol... Have to read the story book beforehand~! >.<

Overall: A-

Good: The actresses are cute?

Bad: The storyline is very confusing. The first one about the white ghost is not too bad but the second part about the black ghost is too... weird and unconvincing. Not scary enough... too cliche... There was apparently not much thought put into it.

Overall: D

Good: Using video cam to capture each and every second of the movie has only made the movie that much more realistic. The dialogue was super~! No cliche, it makes you feel that this could just be the real thing. This feeling is intensified with the creepy ending. If you think this movie is weak, try to sleep at night... >.<

Bad: I do think the response of the psychic at his 2nd appearance in the movie is not very convincing.

Overall: A

Good: I like the NG parts~! It was funny and so Jackie Chan~! lol... Most of the audiences like the little daughter with her many funnt antics but I like the little boy with his chubby face. The dialogue is not too bad either, like what Jackie Chan says to the eldest gal 'Family does not share the same blood. Family are the ones that make you feel at home.' something like that... It was very meaningful.

Bad: Omg... Jackie is so old now~! >.< lol... The story borders very dangerously at being disney's movie. The chemistry between Jackie and his co-star could be intensified by better camera angling. AND Bob cyrus actings' sucks~! He only has like very limited expression. Although he does not appear much during the movie, he could at least have made the effort.

Overall: B

Good: I like this movie~!!! I guess perhaps it was the part of growing up with waltz disney but I was impressed that they could maintain the same quality of graphics. The storyline was simple yet it made me cry at the right time, especially when Reymond died. Or the part where his eyes was watery and he looks up to the evening sky and say 'Evangeline, she doesn't mean it'. I thought they would have a happy ending for all the characters but they don't which makes the movie a bit more realistic this time. I love it~!

Bad: I don't really like the frogs... lol...

Overall: A+

Old friends, new gathering

The joy of meeting ex classmates and long parted friends is reviving the old forgotten self and memories which are long long forgotten. The down side to having to attend gathering is being reminded of the fact tat you are now OLD~! yikes~!! >.<

Seeing everyone reminds me of this very very old song, sounds quite meaningful... I remember during my college days, we performed this song during our PRIME night~! :D

I wonder how are they all... ever since those wonderful 8 months, some of the friendships have fallen through, I hear.. which means it is undoubtedly harder when trying to arrange gatherings. Plus they're mostly overseas~! lol... All the best~!

A song for my darling~!

Love you and missing you every moment that we are apart.
Miss your annoying banter; miss your cute laughter; miss your hand enveloping mine. For those times we spent apart, God have a hidden plan lay in store for us.

Another chapter closes...

It was my first time I spent the celebration of a new year on a beach, not just any beach anyway, this is gold coast~! Standing just meters away from the fireworks, eyes straining against the wind and flashes, eager to soak in every explosion and sparks. It makes me wanna be a whole new person altogether. Finally after spending the year of the ox in Oz, it is finally time for me to return home~! *although for a month...

Thank you Oz for the sweet times; for those times that I am down, there was always someone beside me to talk some senses to me, holding it all together for me, guided me, loved me and protected me. For those tribulations and trials that came my way, thank God that I did not succumb down to their low level although many times I wish I would. lol...

Finally, time to go home~!~!~!~!~!

Road Trip

Bits and pieces of memories captured along the road trip... Spent a lot... a LOT of time on the road... sometimes sang along with the radio till sore throat, sometimes tuned in to radio talk that was quite weird... :P , had a few stops along the way for the beautiful scenic views or the town's specialty...
Grilling oyster we bought from Nambucca, very cheap~! one dozen for aud7.50

Eating large raw oysters, also bought from Nambucca (AUD12)

The hump on the pie actually means it is a camel meat pie... :D

Did in fact had a chance to drop by Canberra, although in terms of shopping and attractions, I much prefer Sydney to Canberra. It was flocked with tourists especially the Parliament House. Strange as it may seem to me, but I couldn't help wondering why when I visited the parliament House in Perth, no photography is allowed and only authorised visitors whereas Canberra's Parliament House is pretty much open to public? Although in comparison, Perth's parliament house brags of a LOT of chandeliers (say about 30+?) and they have a very priceless blackswan decoration at the bottom floor. Canberra Parliament House depicts paintings and mostly pictures with the occasional statues.

Canberra~!

The house of senate... attention~!

Beautiful embroidery decorating the great hall in the Parliament House

Yes, milady...

Conversing with black swan... quack quack~!

You are not much of a talker, aren't you?

Road trip destination 1: Sydney

25 - 26th of December 2009
Finally arrived in Sydney after approximately 8 hours on the road. The progression from Perth to Melbourne has bought me some insight to the beauty of Australia but then Sydney is well... way more beautiful. We checked into a hotel at The Rocks which housed a lot of nice shop lots and is just steps away from the circular Quay. At the rooftop of the hotel, there is a nice and clear view of the Sydney Bridge, The Sydney Opera House and the city. The sight was breathtaking~!

Sydney Bridge

Sydney Opera House

The first thing we did upon arriving was to fill our stomach, just on the corner is a Guylian chocolate house~! We bought a few chocolates to try out, quite forgotten their names by now. Only remember that it was delicious~! The white with bow on top had slight alcohol taste which blends nicely with the fruity sweet chocolate taste~! yummy~!

Guylian chocolates

The hotel was very strategic, just a few minutes walk to the circular quay and SOH. Although the circular quay brags of its wonderful view of the port and its many attractions, it is also flocked with sea gulls which leaves many unsightly messes... yucks~! At the side of SOH, there is also a nice botanical garden encouraging visitors to walk on the grass, sit and enjoy nature. Some locals choose to celebrate their christmas with a bottle of champagne and finger foods while lounging under the trees. Tourists were noted immediately by their bulky DSLR cameras and the backpacks. I wonder how I look to others with my bulky white handbag and trenchcoat (Hey, it was raining~!). lol...

Immersed in nature's beautyBottle tree found only in Aussie Sneak peak of the palace garden

Crowds throng the city streets for the Boxing day sale

So nice to be Queen Victoria's favourite pet, you get a statue all for yourself~!

Kawaii cakes~! :P yum yum...

Daifuku~!!!

Bondi Beach, supposed to be throng with crowds except it was raining tat day... They say the sand is supposed to be so fine, but I find it just ordinary in comparison to Coff's Harbour beach. The beauty perhaps lies with the beautiful town cove surrounding the beach which makes it all the more accessible.

No alcohol... seriously... XD

The famous Bondi Beach Rescue does their training here? The beautiful swimming pool beside the sea... I m sure the maintenance fee would be high...

Recycled bottle xmas tree

Unconventional cute doggy xmas log...

Night view of Sydney city... bye bye sydney~!
