Thoughts on June on Fire

Earlier last month, I was consumed by the goal to lose weight, eat healthy and get fit (a.k.a. June on Fire!).

I was so motivated by other people's before and after picture. I thought that person could be me! But in my mental picture, I don't need washboard abs or smaller waistline, I just wanted two things! I wanted lady muscles on my arm and I wanted my thigh gap to be complete. That's all I wanted.

And for this picture in my mind, I worked real hard. As hard as I could manage to push myself that is. I can give a thousand reason why this is hard but in the end it sounded lame in comparison to this image in my head. And it is true that I get tired and hungry by the time I reach home and oh-so-true that it is getting oh-so-cold dead of winter here. But a thousand reasons still cannot squelch that tiny voice inside reminding you of what you want, like a child throwing a huge tantrum and won't accept even a word of advise from their parents. I think sometimes I like and admire this kind of stubbornness. Some times.

Hard as it may seem to motivate myself to even move a muscle, I soon realize I have external pressure from others to handle.

I am talking about some that actually starts to feel resentful towards me. I mean how funny is it that people would actually feel resentful enough to make comments that getting fit and losing weight is easier for me because *insert adacadabra magic, please*. It sounds so obviously lame, right? If you're thinking of genetics, how many of us are actually genetically predisposed to be skinny anyway?

They act like I think I am better than them, making snide comments about my workouts as if I am planning an evil world domination. I don't know, all I care is working towards bettering myself. And I do not understand why I need to justify why I need to do this. Maybe it is something superficial like less flabbier arm and thigh gaps but my methods doesn't involve extreme measures such as starving myself and being bulimic, so go easy on me.

I am due to do my weight in next week, and honestly I haven't seen my full thigh gaps yet and my underarms still does the jiggles when excited so maybe all those snide remarks are unwarranted. Update next week~!

June on Fire!!

I am so motivated by blogilates' Cassey Ho's June on Fire. (If you want to know more about her, just click here.) So motivated that I managed to convince my hubby to enter into our own diet bet for the month of June, and he agreed! *insert laugh out loud*

Our goal will be to lose 4% of our body weight within the month of June. I know 4% may not sound a lot to a lot of hardcore dieters who are able to swiftly lose weight by controlling their food intake (I know I can't) and survived on cabbage soup (I know I really can't) or something but 4% during winter is very hard. Don't  just trust me, just look at the polar bears.

But this diet bet is different, I promise you. No crazy-malnutrition dieting, no crazy formula; just plain, old, trialed and tested method of healthy food and plenty of exercises.

It will be hard. *shakes head* Last winter, I was sooo.... hungry I swear I thought I had intestinal worms and had to embarrass myself by going to the pharmacy to get deworming tablets and the pharmacist laughed at my diagnosis. Apparently according to the pharmacist, you can take a torchlight and shine at said A**H**** at dark and if you have intestinal worms, your AH will kinda glow at night. Sounds pretty impressive like some kind of fireflies. Turns out I didn't have intestinal worms, not because someone shine some torchlight at my AH but because autumn came and my appetite slowly wane. :P

So this is me taken earlier this month with my fat thighs and bum, I hope at the end of the month I would see some improvement. This has always been my trouble zone and it is now or never in getting it fix!

Please don't try to stop me because I know myself how lazy I am. It is so hard to get fired up to do anything at all during winter but this time it is different. Late last month, I lost a friend from heart attack. He was barely 35 and that made it so hard for us to accept. I know he was obese most of his life but this was something we thought would never happen to someone we know and love at such a young age. We'd always meant well by telling him he needed to lose weight and he'd always push it off; but how easy is it to say and not do anything? How easy is it to say we will start a healthier lifestyle tomorrow? Next week? Next month? When winter is over? There will never be a better timing than the time you have now.

I wanted so badly to post this up earlier but I got so emotional when I think of him. So, this month is a month I am committing to healthier living. Let's trade in those high heels, put on some running shoes and let's get sweating!
